Some reading or a night full of commotion.....

It's been an interesting past couple of days. I just began reading Brennan Manning's "Ruthless Trust" and I can't put it down. I would recommend it to anyone who's interested in diving deeper into their knowledge of the Living God.

Anyway, outside of the reading, my company, CPD PLUS (read: Cats Paying Dues) had a great show tonight at STARR SPACE in Bushwick. it was part of a CABARET night for which yours truly was the MC. The Cabaret was one of the parties going on for Bushwick Open Studios, a weekend long art festival. Not to get hokey, but I am continually proud of the work the members of CPD PLUS put into the process of being a tap dance company. Other highlights of the night was seeing a xylophone/bass duo - the Xylopholks - play some swinging jazz while dressed up in some serious costumes, a cookie-monster-esque getup being one of them. With gloves and limited site....now that takes some serious skill. There was also some hip face-painting and a live visual artist, making work as the night went on. And so, with a little commotion the night was over.

Came home to watch a rerun of the 2005 IRONMAN......now that race is something in and of itself, but this particular airing showcased some special cases. Along with the usual amazing array of athletes, the 2005 race showcased three racers cross the finish line: a single-leg amputee who had been unable to finish the previous year, an 80 year-old who became the oldest man to ever finish an IRONMAN (he crossed with his grandkids), and a racer who finished while battling the neuro-muscular disease ALS.

I can only say thank you to those who race for being shining example of the human spirit......beyond that, I have no words.....

A description of my mind.....

I once described my mind as a Cirque de Soleil show that was in tech rehearsal. You know, some days it could be pretty, while other days, it could be a mess. I like to think that I'm continually learning and so things are continually changing. Nevertheless, I hold fast to some truths that have provided for me a stable foundation upon which my life is built. I'm slightly restless, so I'm always tinkering with that foundation, with helpful results (most of the time).

Anyway, I'll be writing a little bit about everything.....recent purchases, recent or past thoughts, upcoming happenings, interesting occurrences, etc. Hope you enjoy.
